Since long India as well as in other countries flood management of a river basin have been focusing mainly on the downstream management. In Kosi also flood management strategy mostly emphasized upon the downstream management, but still outcomes are not as per the expectation of the people. Through this book it has been tried to draw the attention of planners also toward upstream management rather than heavy dependency on downstream management for flood management. This book also emphasizes upon the study and analysis of morphometry of a basin for adopting holistic approach of flood management of a river basin. Details of various aspects of morphometry of the basin together with data of soil, rainfall and geology will be helpful to identify the areas which are vulnerable for silt source in the catchments.
