]]>साइकिल की त्रासद स्मृतियों वाला इंसान दिया लेकर ढूंढने पर भी शायद ही कोई कभी मिले। रुचि रहते हुए भी साइकिल न चला पाने की लाचारी इक्कीसवीं सदी के भारतीय समाज के नगर विकास मॉडल की कुरूप देन है। गति के आंकड़ों में साइकिल भले ही पिछड़ गई हो पर उपयोगिता और आनंद की रेस में इसको पछाड़ना कभी सहज नहीं होगा। साइकिल की शख्सियत ऐसी है कि चोट खाकर भी सवार दुबारा सवारी के लिए उद्यत रहता है।
यहां समाज के विभिन्न तबकों, उम्र, जेंडर और प्रोफ़ेशन के अड़तीस लोगों की साइकिल की विशिष्ट स्मृतियां संकलित हैं- चोरी से सीखना, साथियों से प्रेम और ईर्ष्या, चढ़ना गिरना चोट लगना फिर उठना और चढ़ना, साइकिल के चोरी हो जाने पर रोने जैसे अनेक प्रसंग बार बार भले ही दुहराए जाएं पर पहली बार साइकिल चला लेने की सबकी अलग-अलग अप्रतिम खुशी बहुरंगी सुगंध बिखेरती है।
